The Lions welcomed Holy Souls to the Rugby club on a bright crisp morning and for the first time in ages manager Haycock had a full squad to pick from.
We knew games against Souls are tight and that one goal might be the difference between the 2 sides.
The First half was largely forgettable. I can only remember Beard being injured early on, a Dove long range effort curling wide and Tyler making an excellent save. I
Half Time Lions 0 Souls 0.
The second half was much the same. Both teams passing was awful. Ours probably worse than theirs. It was not to be a pretty game but we needed to stand up and be counted. With Fifteen minutes still left on the clock, Green produced a break down the right and pulled back a low cross for HAYCOCK to squeeze the ball in the far corner. Unfortunately, what followed was the worst celebration football has known!
We had got the lead and manged to hold onto it and i thought actually looked more likely to get a 2nd rather than they an equaliser.
Final Score Lions 1 Souls 0.
MOM: Calla As ever a really solid performance from Jamie. He covered his centra halfs well and always looks to play the right pass when he gets the ball. If we can just get the full backs overlapping ala Warnock we would really add another dimension to our team.
A really important win arresting our recent slide. As mentioned it was not pretty but we really stuck to our task well. We have said countless times that all the matches in this Division are really tight. Lets get back in the habit of keeping going right till the 80th minute. I really think that will could be the difference between finishing 1st and 8th.
